Gran Fondo means "grand tour" or "great distance" in Italian, which is a mass-start cycling ride which brings together road cyclists of all abilities.
The Municipality of Clare, situated on the shores of Baie Sainte-Marie (Saint Mary’s Bay) in Southwest Nova Scotia, is home to the largest Acadian community in the province.Read More about La Baie Sainte-Marie
It was our first time in that area and the hospitality and organization were top notch. We felt welcomed by your community, safe and enjoyed every moment of the 67 km, except those hills.
From the Moncton, NB riders, a big thank you, job well done.
See you next year... probably will still suck at the hills but, if there is lobster at the end, bring them on!"
Navigate rolling inland roads and discover towering wooden churches along the panoramic coastal route that hugs beautiful Baie Sainte-Marie.
The 160 km Super Gran is for hardcore cyclists looking to put their skills to the test!
Experienced riders will be challenged by our 120 km Gran route.
Our most popular route, the 67 km Medio is perfect for intermediate riders.
At 35 km, the Piccolo offers anyone an excellent introduction to Fondo riding.
Although the Fondo is a tour, not a race, chip timing is provided so you can track your progress year-to-year.
Take a break at one of our conveniently located rest stops to enjoy refreshment and connect with other riders.
Lunch, medals, and prizes await you after your ride, so plan to hang around and enjoy the afternoon!
End your ride on a high note and enjoy a local lobster lunch (or BBQ pork or veggie chili), included with all registrations!
The people in your community were really supportive, the pots & pans banging, the waving of the Acadian flags, and the cheering along the 67k route was so wonderful my eyes blurred with both tears & water from the fog. The volunteers! WOW! You people smiled, you were friendly and helpful, and so very organized! I cannot say enough good things about you! My pit crew! Yes, I blew a tube & I had 3 volunteers come to my rescue & a fellow cyclist come back with a pump that was faster than my pump. Thanks so much Gran Fondo & the people of Baie Sainte-Marie Clare...I left feeling even more proud to be a Nova Scotian!
Faites du velo!"
"...The hospitality seemed to come so naturally to les gens de La Baie. More than a ride, the Gran Fondo Baie-Sainte-Marie is truly a genuine cultural experience."
"What stood out for me was the excellent organisation before, during and after the event and the warm and friendly welcome from the whole community."
We bring out an entire community of dedicated volunteers to plan, organize and realize every detail of the entire weekend.
Let us be your hosts!
